I Spy Treasure Hunt is the first video game adaption of the homonymous 1999 picture book. It is the sixth I Spy PC game, released 2 October 2001 on CD-ROM for Windows and Macintosh systems. The game was developed and published by Scholastic and programmed by Black Hammer Productions. There are a total of 60 riddles, the most for any I Spy game to date. There are three scenarios to play through, each containing 20 riddles. The game would later get a scaled-down version for Leapster gaming systems, using most of the same elements.
Likely in late 2010, Big Fish Games made a download-only re-release of Treasure Hunt. It replaced the question mark button with an options menu, and the read-aloud button with a cooldown hint system. This version also removes the third scenario, unexplainably. Big Fish never acknowledged or patched this, and still priced I Spy Treasure Hunt the same as their other I Spy re-releases. The Big Fish re-release was often confused with the original game. A few years ago, Big Fish Games would delist I Spy Treasure Hunt from their storefront, while leaving other I Spy re-releases available for purchase.
