Plot[]
A visitor arrives in a seaside town via train. They travel to Duck Pond Inn and watch the town from the Inn's balcony, eventually noticing a shop called the Treasure Chest Store. Looking through the store's window, they see a map and after observing it, travel to an old fort located high above the town. Observing the town from the fort, the visitor spots a treehouse with a pirate's flag down below. Finding the treehouse, which is also located near a waterfall, they see a lighthouse in the distance and head there, arriving just before a storm blows in. The visitor takes shelter from the storm in a nearby barn, where they find a hidden passage leading into a cave that pirates once used as a hideout. There is a map that shows that the treasure is located on an island near here. Exiting the cave, the visitor finds that the storm has passed. Out on the beach, there is a shipwreck and an island with an old house is seen out on the sea, where the treasure is. The visitor retrieves binoculars from the cave and uses it to observe the island, where they see a stone skull and crossbones. The stone skull's teeth is actually a water well and it is the exact location where the treasure is hidden. The visitor reaches the island by night and discovers the treasure at the bottom of the well, which is lifted out via the well's bucket.

Trivia[]
- The I Spy Junior CD booklet says that the I Spy Treasure Hunt book takes place in I Spy Harbor, and that the pirate narrator from the game is from Lighthouse Point. This conflicts with both the video game I Spy Treasure Hunt and the book I Spy Treasure Hunt. The town in which the game takes place is called Smuggler's Cove, and the sign on the town's train station in the book also reads "Smuggler's Cove." Lighthouse point is never referenced in the game or book, but may refer to the point of land upon which the lighthouse stands in both.
- This book has the least amount of appearances in the Challenger! series, with only The Treasure Chest Store appearing in Ultimate Challenger!
- However, there are two appearances in Spectacular, a book similar to the Challenger! series.
- This was initially the last book in the I Spy Classic series, up until I Spy Love's release in November 2024.
