I Spy Mystery is the video game adaption of the homonymous 1993 picture book. It is the ninth I Spy PC game, released 15 September 2006 on CD-ROM for Windows and Macintosh systems. The game was developed and published by Scholastic and programmed by Black Hammer Productions. The game reuses assets from previous games with some new animations and sound design. Many scenes and picture riddles are borrowed from I Spy Spooky Mansion Deluxe, Treasure Hunt, and Fantasy.
In 2010, Big Fish Games made a download-only re-release of Mystery. It replaced the question mark button with an options menu, and the read-aloud button with a cooldown hint system. The Big Fish re-release is often confused with the original game. Despite other I Spy re-releases having been delisted from Big Fish's storefront, this one remains (along with their versions of Fantasy and Spooky Mansion Deluxe).
Plot[]
Put your detective skills to the test as you solve 13 cases that have been placed on your desk. Each case has I Spy riddles that lead you to clues to solving the mystery.
After any case is solved, on the file and photos giant stamp stamps on the photos saying "[MYSTERY SOLVED]" while the announcer says "This mystery is solved! *door closes in distance*.
